Hospitality company Hilton has entered a franchise agreement with Groupe Bertout to open its first property in Monaco, called the Columbus Hotel Monte-Carlo, Curio Collection by Hilton.

Located at 23 Av des Papalins, the hotel is scheduled to be rebranded before the end of 2023.

It will target both leisure and business travellers looking for an authentic Monaco lifestyle experience.

This announcement comes after the company entered a partnership to open a Curio Collection-branded hotel in Melbourne, Australia, last month.

Hilton senior vice-president of development for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Patrick Fitzgibbon said: “The Principality of Monaco is an iconic destination and the Columbus Hotel Monte-Carlo, Curio Collection by Hilton will be an incredible addition to our portfolio marking our first hotel in Monaco.

“Groupe Bertout are incredible partners with a unique vision for this hotel and we’re proud to partner with them on this important project.”

Groupe Bertout managing director Dimitri Bertout said: “We are thrilled to embark on our first project with Hilton, bringing the characterful Curio Collection by Hilton brand to the iconic city of Monaco.

“The intimate and cosy Columbus Hotel Monte-Carlo, Curio Collection by Hilton, is a beacon for those looking for stylish yet comfortable accommodation, be it for business or leisure. Monaco is an always changing destination and we look forward to welcoming guests later in the year.”

The hotel will have 181 guestrooms offering views of Princess Grace Rose Garden or the Mediterranean, with most rooms featuring private terraces.

Guests will have the option to dine at the hotel’s restaurant called Tavolo, which will serve delectable menu options. Guests can also visit nearby international restaurants.

It will also provide a range of amenities, such as a fitness facility and an outdoor pool.

The hotel is situated across the Princess Grace Rose Garden in the Marina of Fontvielle.

It is also a short walk away from the Stade Louis II stadium and a 40-minute drive away from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport.

Additionally, the hotel is a part of Hilton Honors, Hilton’s guest loyalty programme.

Gen Z and their impact on the travel and tourism industry

Gen Z has been called the most disruptive generation ever by Bank of America, and its influence is on the rise at a time of great uncertainty. Gen Z's focus on local and micro-tourism is reshaping the industry towards a more sustainable, community-centric, and culturally enriching approach to travel. This shift is not only influencing the destinations and activities that are popular but also the way travel companies market and provide services to cater to the preferences of this generation.
