Hospitality company Hilton has announced plans to further bolster its presence in France with the debut of its first property in Lille, called Hilton Lille.

The property will operate as a Hilton-affiliated hotel before undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation, after which it will rebrand under Hilton Hotels & Resorts in 2024.

This latest opening will join the existing 23 trading hotels in France under Hilton’s brands.

Hilton senior vice-president of development for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Patrick Fitzgibbon said: “Hilton’s portfolio in France is on a steep growth trajectory and we now have more than 45 hotels trading or under development.

“This growth is fuelled by demand for our brands, allowing us to develop our portfolio of properties in a number of important destinations. Lille is a thriving market and Hilton Lille will be an exciting arrival when it welcomes guests next year.”

Located in the centre of the city, the hotel will offer 124 guest rooms catering to both business and leisure travellers.

Guests at the property will be able to dine at Europa restaurant with a mezzanine seating section as well as enjoy a list of beverages at the COOPER bar.

It will host both conferences and social gatherings at its 360m² of meeting space, spanning seven meeting rooms and also offer a fitness centre.

Additionally, as part of the hotel's investment, a new executive lounge area will be introduced, offering complimentary food and beverages.

Situated at 335 Boulevard de Leeds, the hotel is a short walk away from Lille Europe train station.

It will cater to passengers travelling from Amsterdam, London, Brussels and other major French cities, including Paris, which is an hour away.

Guests at the property will also have access to the cobblestone pathways of Old Lille and its Grand Palais congress centre, Grand Place and Zenith Arena.

The hotel will also be part of Hilton’s guest loyalty programme called Hilton Honours.

Currently, Hilton has a collection of 22 brands with approximately 7,400 properties across 124 countries and territories.

Cryptocurrency - The world’s most polarizing technology theme

The globalization and digitization of travel and tourism are both driving the demand for easy-to-use and cheap international transaction processes and payment systems. Tourists are beginning to discover that cryptocurrencies offer such opportunities—by simplifying cross-border transactions and overcoming the associated foreign currency exchange costs. At present, cryptocurrencies are the most advanced application of public blockchains that promise benefits such as a universal means of payment and minimal fees through the removal of intermediaries.
