Hilton Hotels & Resorts has opened its first Hampton by Hilton Hotel-branded property in Rochdale, UK, as reported by Rochdale Borough Council.

The new property will be operated by hotel management company Legacy Hotels and Resorts.

Situated adjacent to the Rochdale Riverside shopping and leisure development, the hotel offers 146 guestrooms, high-speed Wi-Fi and a complimentary hot breakfast.

It also boasts a fitness facility featuring Peloton bikes and a lobby area that offers food and drink options.

Rochdale Borough Council cabinet member for housing and regeneration Councillor Danny Meredith said: “Bringing a huge global name like Hampton by Hilton to Rochdale for the first time is another major step forward in our ongoing regeneration programme and demonstrates the level of high-quality development that is being created here.

“The hotel looks incredible and it’s a really strong addition to Rochdale’s rapidly changing town centre.”

Hilton managing director of development for UK and Ireland Graham Dodd said: “Regeneration-led town centres like Rochdale, which have benefited from large-scale investment, are prime sites for the Hampton by Hilton brand as it continues its expansion.

“The proximity of the hotel to the brand-new retail and leisure development and the wider town centre will be a real draw for guests and we look forward to welcoming them to this fantastic new property.”

The new hotel is also a part of the £65m ($80.57m) Upperbanks development, managed by Rochdale Development Agency on behalf of Rochdale Borough Council.

The metaverse may accelerate the travel industry’s recovery, though only compelling use cases will lead to adoption

Large travel and tourism organizations have begun exploring use cases for the metaverse following the devastating impact of the pandemic. Current applications either focus on digital marketing campaigns with real-world rewards for consumers, creating immersive experiences on-site for digitally savvy consumers through AR and VR metaverses, or improving operational efficiency through digital twin technology. However, its adoption by smaller operators will remain limited until use cases are affordable and provide a guaranteed ROI.
