South Florida's Pompano Beach is set to welcome a new luxury residential development, the Waldorf Astoria Residences Pompano Beach.

This collaboration between Related Group and Merrimac Ventures, in partnership with Hilton, marks the Waldorf Astoria brand's debut in purely residential concepts and its official entrance into Broward County.

Situated on a two-acre oceanfront site, the Waldorf Astoria Residences Pompano Beach will consist of 92 residential units, embodying the renowned elegance and exclusivity of the Waldorf Astoria brand.

The project offers world-class design by Nichols in collaboration with KORA, BAMO and Enea Landscape Architecture.

It also features a host of amenities inspired by the world of hospitality, including a beachfront cafe with room service, resident lounge, pool, jacuzzi, cabanas with poolside dining, wellness facilities and two dozen boat slips.

A historic legacy

The Residences have been designed as a homage to the history and tradition of the Waldorf Astoria brand. Notable nods include the Peacock Alley, a resident-only gathering area reminiscent of the Peacock Alleys found in many Waldorf Astoria properties worldwide.

A specially crafted clock, inspired by the iconic landmark at Waldorf Astoria New York, takes centre stage in the grand lobby.

The development offers 15,000 square feet of curated lifestyle amenities. Highlights include a 20,000-square-foot oceanfront pool deck with a lap pool and private spa, an outdoor bar, a dining lounge, summer kitchens and resident cabanas.

Residents will also have direct, private access to 200 feet of beachfront, a beachside cafe and a private marina with 19 slips accommodating vessels up to 45 feet in length.

For those seeking wellness and fitness options, the Waldorf Astoria Residences Pompano Beach will feature a resident-only spa with private treatment rooms, a his and hers sauna, steam rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness centre with the latest cardio and strength equipment, a dedicated movement studio and a spin room.

Entertainment and signature services

Entertainment options include a ground-floor food and beverage concept, a billiards lounge, a children’s entertainment room and a multi-sport simulator.

Managed by Waldorf Astoria, the property will offer 24/7 signature resident services including in-resident dining, beach and pool-side service and a personal concierge.

The development will also showcase an array of museum-quality art from the world-renowned Jorge M Perez Contemporary Art Collection.

The metaverse may accelerate the travel industry’s recovery, though only compelling use cases will lead to adoption

Large travel and tourism organizations have begun exploring use cases for the metaverse following the devastating impact of the pandemic. Current applications either focus on digital marketing campaigns with real-world rewards for consumers, creating immersive experiences on-site for digitally savvy consumers through AR and VR metaverses, or improving operational efficiency through digital twin technology. However, uptake of the metaverse by smaller operators will remain limited until use cases are affordable and provide a guaranteed return on investment.
