IHG Hotels & Resorts, in collaboration with the Pro-invest Group, has announced the debut of Hotel Indigo Sydney Potts Point in the city of Sydney, Australia, bringing the global boutique brand to the city.

Pro-invest Group's extensive refurbishment of the 105-room hotel draws inspiration from the Kings Cross neighbourhood, aiming to provide travellers with a glimpse into the area’s hospitality and entertainment culture.

Jan Smits, CEO of Pro-invest Group, said in a statement: "Our multi-million-dollar refurbishment has re-imagined this property, introducing Hotel Indigo's creative spirit to Sydney for the first time and adding to the incredible re-energisation taking place in this famous part of the city.”

Artistry in the lobby

The lobby features a curated art collection, including NFT dance projections and photographic portraits of local performance artists.

Guests can contribute by selecting vintage vinyl records to play on the lobby's turntable.

Design and culinary offerings

Guest room floors incorporate neighbourhood-inspired elements with lenticular signage and commissioned artwork.

Some rooms offer Sydney Harbour views or neon-lit streetscapes from private terraces.

Expanded portfolio

Hotel Indigo Sydney Potts Point is Pro-invest Group’s fourth hotel in Sydney and the third Hotel Indigo in its portfolio, following openings in Melbourne and Brisbane in 2022.

Pro-invest Group, IHG's significant franchise partner in Australasia, now offers 32 hotels across Australia and New Zealand.

Matt Tripolone, managing director at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement: “No two Hotel Indigos are alike and with Sydney’s most famous neighbourhood as its inspiration, Hotel Indigo Sydney Potts Point will be another exceptional example of the brand’s culturally rich boutique offering.”

Gen Z and their impact on the travel and tourism industry

Gen Z has been called the most disruptive generation ever by Bank of America, and its influence is on the rise at a time of great uncertainty. Gen Z's focus on local and micro-tourism is reshaping the industry towards a more sustainable, community-centric, and culturally enriching approach to travel. This shift is not only influencing the destinations and activities that are popular but also the way travel companies market and provide services to cater to the preferences of this generation.
