Hotelbeds has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Merlin Entertainments for its six LEGOLAND hotels within LEGOLAND Resorts across the US.

This marks an extension of their long-standing collaboration in the theme parks and attractions sector, with the new contract exclusively focusing on the hotel offerings.

Hotelbeds managing director of mobility and experiences Chris Leonard said: “This partnership marks a new phase in our relationship with Merlin and is an endorsement of our joint success to date.

“Thanks to our extensive global footprint, we are able to now support LEGOLAND Hotels in attracting customers from around the world while also helping agents attract new customers seeking new holiday experiences.”

The six properties consist of LEGOLAND New York Hotel, LEGOLAND Florida Pirate Island Hotel, LEGOLAND California Hotel, LEGOLAND Florida Hotel, LEGOLAND California Castle Hotel and LEGOLAND Florida Beach Retreat Resort.

Hotelbeds will be these hotels’ exclusive global partner for business-to-business (B2B) accommodation bookings.

Merlin Entertainments director of public relations for North America Julie Estrada said: “Bringing families with children ages two – 12 together to create awesome family memories is what we excel at and we’re excited Hotelbeds is able to work with us to offer families across the globe the unique LEGOLAND experience.”

Bookings made by travel agents will feature access to the LEGOLAND Resort's Halloween event called Brick-or-Treat, which is available on specific nights until October 29, 2023.

Furthermore, guests staying at LEGOLAND Hotels will be able to enjoy benefits such as early entry to LEGOLAND theme parks and complimentary breakfast.

The benefits also include access to LEGOLAND Water Park in California and Florida, as well as the Peppa Pig Theme Park in Florida.

With this deal, LEGOLAND hotels join Hotelbeds' extensive collection of over 300,000 hotels and 16,000 experiences across the globe.

This partnership comes after Hotelbeds entered a strategic partnership with Hopper last month.

Cybercriminals are attracted to a wealth of personal data making the travel sector a prime target

The T&T sector is becoming increasingly digitalized, embracing emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, and cloud. As the digital ecosystems of companies grow, they become more vulnerable to cyberattacks. The industry is fragmented, thereby increasing the number of potential entry points for attackers to exploit. Per GlobalData estimates, cybersecurity revenues in the T&T sector are forecasted to reach $3.5 billion by 2026.
