Hotels in India’s capital Delhi are facing a surge in demand as the country prepares to host the G20 Leaders Summit.

Scheduled from 9 to 10 September 2023, the 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit is anticipated to attract 10,000 guests to India, as reported by CNBC TV18.

Citing reports, the publication said more than 20 hotels in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) have reached full capacity, especially the opulent presidential suites that have been set aside for VVIPs.

Separately, IANS via the Economic Times stated that while up to 21 hotels have been reserved for the delegations coming in from September 7 to attend the G20 Summit, five of them have been deemed to be the most critical from a security standpoint.

All these luxurious five-star hotels are located in the exclusive areas of New Delhi that are home to India's top civilian and military brass.

The five most closely watched delegations - the US, Chinese, the UK, France and Australia - will check into the ITC Maurya, Chanakyapuri; Taj Palace, Chanakyapuri; Shangri-La by Eros, Connaught Place; the Claridges, Motilal Nehru Marg and the Imperial, Connaught Place.

Taj Palace general manager Nayan Seth, according to CNBC TV18, said: “The hotel is packed and most of them are G20 delegates. We are working on safety and security with the local authorities. The welcome will be in the Indian manner to give delegates the flavours of Indian hospitality."
