Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced its intention to introduce a new vacation rental platform known as Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt.

The platform will enable World of Hyatt members to book private vacation rental properties throughout the United States.

Hyatt's announcement underscores its focus on diversifying accommodation options to cater to varying travel preferences.

Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt will concentrate on premium vacation rentals, allowing members to reserve residential rental properties in prominent US travel destinations including Hawaii and Colorado.

There are plans to extend the platform's reach globally at a later stage.

Amy Weinberg, senior vice-president of brand, loyalty and data at Hyatt, emphasised the company's aim to provide alternative accommodation options.

She stated: "Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt offers a distinctive collection of curated homes, expanding Hyatt's accommodation offerings and broadening the horizons for member services."

Partnership with Lowe

As part of the preparations for the launch of Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt, Hyatt has partnered with Lowe.

Through one of its affiliates, Lowe will acquire and operate the existing vacation rental management business, currently known as Destination Residences Management.

The Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt platform is expected to showcase a diverse range of private vacation rental properties including beachfront properties, mountainside ski chalets, villas, country estates, cottages, modern townhouses, apartments, flats and penthouses.

All properties will be professionally managed by carefully vetted property management companies to ensure a high-quality guest experience.

Member benefits

Members will enjoy benefits when booking their stays through the Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt platform.

These advantages will comprise earning points and tier-qualifying night credits, standard tier bonuses and the ability to redeem points for stays at vacation rental properties.

With an extended selection of locations and experiences, members will have additional opportunities to accrue and redeem rewards, enhancing their overall travel experience.

World of Hyatt members can anticipate gaining access to a new realm of vacation rental possibilities, offering diverse and unique accommodation choices in prime locations across the United States.

The metaverse may accelerate the travel industry’s recovery, though only compelling use cases will lead to adoption

Large travel and tourism organizations have begun exploring use cases for the metaverse following the devastating impact of the pandemic. Current applications either focus on digital marketing campaigns with real-world rewards for consumers, creating immersive experiences on-site for digitally savvy consumers through AR and VR metaverses, or improving operational efficiency through digital twin technology. However, uptake of the metaverse by smaller operators will remain limited until use cases are affordable and provide a guaranteed return on investment.
