Hyatt Hotels has unveiled plans to bolster its presence in Europe by opening a new Thompson Hotels-branded property in Seville, a major tourist destination in Spain.
An affiliate of Hyatt has finalised an agreement with Hoteles Color Especial for the development of Thompson Seville, which is expected to open in 2026.
Thompson Seville will be the fourth Thompson Hotels property in Europe, alongside Thompson Madrid, which debuted in 2022.
Hyatt group president for EAME Javier Águila said: “We have ambitious plans for our brand expansion in Europe, Africa and the Middle East and today’s announcement is a true testament to our continued success in strengthening our position and ever-growing brand footprint in the region.
“We are honoured to work with Hoteles Color Especial as we start our journey in a new city for Hyatt—the vibrant Seville, in which we aim to create yet another unique and luxurious experience for leisure travellers. The Thompson Hotels brand has a vast potential in our region and particularly in cities that combine a strong leisure and lifestyle offering.”
The luxury lifestyle property will feature 101 guestrooms and suites, a restaurant and a rooftop bar with a pool.
It will also provide an array of amenities, including meeting rooms, coworking spaces and a gym.
The hotel’s location will provide guests with access to the local culture, Andalusian dining options and three UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Currently, Thompson Hotels boasts 18 operational properties in 16 cities worldwide, while Hyatt’s portfolio in Spain is spread across 11 diverse brands.
Earlier this month, Hyatt Hotels and Extell Development Company revealed plans to open the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley in the US state of Utah.
Scheduled to open in late 2024, in time for the ski season, the hotel will feature 387 guestrooms, dining options and a range of other amenities.
In June 2023, the hospitality group announced the opening of Thompson Rome in Italy, while in April, plans for a Thompson hotel in Vienna, Austria, were unveiled.
