The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) is set to mark the entry of its Taj brand into the city of Mysore, Karnataka, with the signing of a new hotel.

The hotel will offer guests a selection of 141 rooms and a variety of culinary experiences, including an all-day dining restaurant, bar, speciality restaurant, and lounge. For relaxation and wellness, there will be a spa, gym, and swimming pool available.

Additionally, Taj Mysore is set to provide extensive banqueting facilities spanning over 11,000ft², catering to both corporate events and social gatherings.

The property covers 5.03 acres and is centrally located next to the Mall of Mysore.

IHCL real estate and development executive vice president Suma Venkatesh said: “Driven by the growing presence of manufacturing and IT sectors, Mysore an established leisure destination is now fast becoming a diversified hospitality market.

“As a gateway to destinations like Coorg, Kabini, Bandipur and Ooty, it attracts a significant mix of domestic and international travellers. The signing of this hotel reflects our commitment to expanding the Taj brand in key markets across India. We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with DM South India Hospitality.”

South India Hospitality director DM Sushen Mohan Gupta said: “We are delighted to grow our association with IHCL, India's true custodians of hospitality. Taj Mysore will cater to the growing demand for luxury hospitality.

“I am confident that the Taj Mysore will elevate the tourism potential of Mysore and truly curate distinctive experiences for our guests.”

Mysore is known as Karnataka's “cultural capital”, popular for its palaces, monuments, and “vibrant traditions”.

Iconic attractions such as the Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hills, and Brindavan Gardens contribute to the city's global appeal as a tourist destination.

This addition brings IHCL's portfolio in Karnataka to a total of 23 hotels, including ten that are currently under development.

Earlier this month, IHCL expanded its Ginger brand with the launch of the Ginger Nagpur City Centre hotel in Maharashtra.
