Hospitality group Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has further broadened its portfolio by opening Taj The Trees, Mumbai, in India.
The property is located within a mixed-use development spanning 34 acres amid an urban hub overlooking the eastern shoreline and mangrove reserve.
IHCL managing director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said: “We are excited to bring the fifth Taj hotel to Mumbai, our newest addition in Taj's home city. Taj The Trees in the evolving micro-market of Vikhroli is strategically located in proximity to significant commercial hubs and the upcoming Navi Mumbai international airport.
“This uniquely designed hotel celebrates the essence of Tajness with the spirit of Godrej Properties’ built legacy of sustainable developments across India. We are delighted to partner with the prestigious Godrej Group for this hotel.”
The eco-sensitive hotel features 151 rooms and banquet venues that open into a private courtyard garden, including a ballroom spread across 7,000ft².
Guests can enjoy dining at the all-day diner Shamiana, speciality restaurant Nonya and the rooftop Mangrove Bar with its own gin distillery, which serves mangrove-inspired dishes.
Other amenities include a gym, an infinity pool overlooking Sculpture Park, J Wellness Circle and beauty salon Niu&Nau.
Functioning as a 100% green-powered hotel, Taj The Trees offers sustainable design. It uses natural sunlight to light 56% of its occupiable areas, offers green-certified room amenities and serves water in glass bottles, making it a zero-single-use plastic hotel.
Additionally, this property is Indian Green Building Council Platinum certified.
With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will feature a total of 12 properties in Mumbai, with two more currently in development.
IHCL offers a range of brands, including Taj, SeleQtions, Vivanta and Ginger.
