The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) is continuing to expand its footprint in India with the signing of two hotels in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The company will introduce Vivanta and Ginger brand hotels in the Mahindra World City (MWC).
IHCL has partnered with Asbri Energy, promoted by Dr G P Subash, to bring the brands to MWC. It is Asbri Energy’s first hospitality project.
The 1,550-acre MWC lies within the influence zones of the Chennai-Bengaluru and Chennai-Vizag Industrial Corridors.
The area serves as a multi-sector Special Economic Zone and a significant logistics hub.
The Vivanta and Ginger brand hotels will occupy a three-acre land parcel near Kolavai Lake, positioning themselves at the core of the integrated business city.
The Vivanta MWC will feature 100 rooms and suites, an all-day diner, a speciality restaurant, and a bar.
The hotel will also feature a comprehensive wellness centre, including a gym and swimming pool, as well as a versatile banquet space.
The Ginger MWC hotel will offer 200 contemporary rooms, an all-day dining cum bar, and modern facilities such as a gym and meeting spaces.
With these additions, IHCL's portfolio in Tamil Nadu will include 22 hotels, including six that are currently under development.
IHCL managing director and chief executive officer Puneet Chhatwal said: “IHCL has been present in Chennai for over five decades. These signings are in line with our strategy of expanding our presence into emerging micro-markets of key metros.
“Such markets with planned industrial, residential and social infrastructure offer substantial opportunities for multi-brand hospitality development. Solidifying our presence in the city, both Vivanta and Ginger are well-positioned to cater to the diverse demands of this integrated business city.”
Last month, IHCL announced the signing of a new hotel in Puducherry, India, which will operate under the Vivanta brand.
