Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has signed a new Taj hotel in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India.
This property is set to become one of the largest convention facilities in Central India, with a 350-key capacity.
The hotel's location along the new Super Corridor places it conveniently near IT campuses, industrial hubs, and leisure destinations.
The upcoming Taj hotel in Indore will be opened in collaboration with Manikaran Commercials Private Limited and is poised to offer a diverse array of dining options, including an all-day dining restaurant, a speciality restaurant, a bar, and a lobby lounge.
For leisure and recreation, guests will have access to a swimming pool, spa, fitness centre, and various sports and entertainment facilities.
The hotel has approximately 50,000ft² of banqueting and event space, which is expected to establish it as a premier convention centre in the region.
IHCL real estate and development executive vice-president Suma Venkatesh said: “This signing is in line with IHCL's strategic vision to expand its footprint across India's key business and leisure destinations.
“Indore, recognised as the commercial and financial capital of central India, is an ideal location for this expansion. With this new venture, we are proud to introduce our entire brand portfolio to the city. We are delighted to collaborate with Manikaran Commercials Private Limited for this hotel.”
Manikaran Commercials Private Limited directors Gurjeet Singh Chhabra and Rajesh Mehta said: “We are delighted to collaborate with IHCL, the foremost name in India's hospitality sector.
“This partnership will bring a Taj hotel to Indore, crowned as India's Strongest Brand in 2023, setting a new standard for luxury in the city.”
The largest city in Madhya Pradesh, Indore is nestled on the banks of the Kahn and Saraswati rivers and serves as a key transit point for pilgrims heading to the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain.
With the addition of this property, IHCL's portfolio in Madhya Pradesh will expand to 12 hotels, including four that are currently under development, across its Taj, SeleQtions, Vivanta, and Ginger brands.
Last month, IHCL's subsidiary, Roots Corporation (RCL), announced its plans to open a new Ginger hotel near Manohar International Airport in Goa.
RCL has entered a 60-year sub-licence agreement with GMR Goa International Airport.
