Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has signed a new resort in Mangalore, in the Indian state of Karnataka, which will operate under the Taj brand.

The upcoming Taj Resort & Spa, Mangalore, which is a brownfield project, will feature 96 guest rooms and suites, each offering views of areca nut plantations, mango orchards, and more.

It will have dining options, including an all-day diner, a bar, a speciality restaurant, and a lobby lounge.

The resort will offer guests access to a Viewing Deck and J Wellness Circle, offering a selection of wellness experiences.

Additionally, the property will cater to social events and weddings with more than 10,000ft² of banqueting space and an open-air theatre.

IHCL managing director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said: “Mangalore’s rich cultural heritage, strategic location along the coast, and burgeoning tourism sector present an ideal opportunity for a Taj branded hotel in the city. The signing is in line with our vision to build a presence in key growth markets.”

With this addition, IHCL's Karnataka footprint will encompass 20 hotels across different brands such as Taj, Vivanta, Gateway, and Ginger, including six properties currently under development.

Last month, IHCL signed an 83-key hotel in Thimphu, Bhutan, in partnership with the Yarkay Group.

The Thimphu hotel will undergo a transformation to be rebranded and operated under the SeleQtions brand.

Currently, IHCL's portfolio includes 326 hotels with 102 under development, spanning four continents, 13 countries, and more than 130 locations.
