Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) subsidiary Roots Corporation (RCL) has revealed plans to open a new Ginger hotel near Manohar International Airport (MOPA) in Goa, India.
RCL signed a 60-year sub-licence agreement with GMR Goa International Airport (GGIAL).
The 300-room hotel will be built on two acres of land and will be an integral part of the aero-city's first phase. It will also include retail and hospitality developments.
The property, which will serve both business and leisure travellers, is expected to open its doors in 2027.
It will feature Qmin, IHCL's signature all-day diner, and a fitness centre.
IHCL CEO and managing director Puneet Chhatwal said: “With the rapidly growing country’s airport infrastructure, the signing of a Ginger at the new Manohar International Airport, Goa is in line with IHCL’s growth plan of being present across key transit hubs.
“This will be the third large format Ginger hotel at an international airport after Mumbai and Bengaluru, catering to the growing demand that these nodal centres generate.”
“This is the beginning of a strategic partnership with the GMR Group which will unlock synergies between IHCL’s hospitality eco-system of multiple hotel brands and businesses, including QSR [quick-service restaurant] and air catering to GMR’s growing airport presence in the country.”
GMR airport land development CEO Aman Kapoor said: “GMR aims to develop the nation’s first Aerocity in the Western Hemisphere ‘GMR Goa Aerocity’.
“Signing of this strategic agreement kick starts a new chapter in urban lifestyle experience.”
The addition of the latest hotel will bring IHCL's portfolio in Goa to 15 properties, with four currently under development.
As part of its expansion strategy, IHCL recently signed a new SeleQtions branded hotel in Uttar Pradesh, India.
In partnership with KM Vyapar, this 1.3-acre brownfield project in Ayodhya will offer 150 rooms and various dining options.
In December 2023, IHCL also collaborated with Polson for a new Mumbai hotel.
This establishment is part of a mixed-use development and will include 43 rooms and an all-day diner amid upscale retail and dining venues.
