Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has strengthened its footprint across Tamil Nadu, India, with the signing of the first IHCL SeleQtions hotel in the East Coast Road (ECR) area in Chennai.

The hotel, part of a 30-acre eco-friendly development, is a partnership between IHCL and GT Bharathi Urban developers.

Situated within a 32-acre green township, the upcoming 120-key hotel will be near the city’s attractions.

It will have a range of dining venues, including an all-day diner, a speciality restaurant, a bar, and a lounge. The hotel will also feature a gym, swimming pool, and spa.

IHCL real estate and development executive vice president Suma Venkatesh said: “We are thrilled to introduce our first SeleQtions hotel in Chennai where IHCL has a multi-brand presence of 14 hotels including iconic luxury hotels and residences, leisure resorts and business hotels spread across central business districts and emerging micro markets.

“Strategically located on ECR, its eco-friendly design and MICE facilities, will cater to the growing travel demand in the area. We are delighted to partner with GT Bharathi Urban developers for this project.”

With this new property, IHCL's footprint in the state will increase to 22 hotels, of which six are under development.

This announcement follows the company's announcement regarding the signing of a new Vivanta and Ginger hotel in Hosur.

IHCL has collaborated with Chona Megatainment Malls’ managing director EMC Palaniappan for these projects.

The company currently has a portfolio of 340 hotels, including 112 under development, spread across four continents, 13 countries, and over 130 sites.

IHCL's brand offerings include Taj, SeleQtions, Vivanta, Gateway, and Ginger.
