Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has signed an agreement for a new Taj hotel at Panchkula, Haryana.
This hotel is expected to meet the increasing demand in the tri-city area, which includes Panchkula, Mohali, and Chandigarh.
This greenfield project signifies IHCL's commitment to expanding its footprint in the region.
IHCL real estate and development executive vice president Suma Venkatesh said: "The signing of a Taj in Panchkula, one of Haryana’s leading cities, aligns with our vision to further solidify IHCL’s presence in the region.
“Given its proximity to Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, this addition will also create a new travel circuit. We are pleased to partner with Kuldeep Singh Makkar for this venture.”
The Makkar family, a prominent business household with diverse commercial interests in Punjab and Haryana, is collaborating with IHCL for this venture.
Their portfolio includes notable hotels and banqueting venues in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Zirakpur.
Strategically located in the HSIIDC IT Park of Panchkula, the hotel will occupy a two-acre site and feature 150 guest rooms offering views of the Ghagghar River and Panchkula Golf Course.
Dining options at the hotel will include an all-day dining restaurant, a speciality restaurant, a bar, and a lobby lounge.
The new Taj hotel will boast the city's largest banqueting hall, spanning 10,000ft², making it a suitable venue for business conferences and social events.
Additionally, guests will have access to recreational facilities, such as a swimming pool, a well-equipped gym, a health club, and the J Wellness Circle, IHCL’s holistic wellness offering.
Panchkula, a satellite city of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, is nestled in the foothills of the Shivalik range and serves as a gateway to the Mansa Devi temple and Gurudwara Nada Sahib.
With this new addition, IHCL's portfolio in Haryana will include six hotels across various brands, including two under development.
Earlier this month, IHCL announced the reopening of the Taj Malabar Resort & Spa in Cochin, Kerala.
