Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), has further expanded its portfolio with the signing of two new Taj-branded hotels in Bhutan.

Located in Phobjikha and Paro, these properties are brownfield projects and will be opened in partnership with CG Group.

These latest additions come just after IHCL announced the opening of Ginger Gangtok, Bojoghari, in the Indian state of Sikkim last week.

IHCL managing director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said: “These signings demonstrate IHCL’s commitment to the region and our focus on expanding our footprint in key leisure destinations.

“We are delighted to bring two Taj-branded hotels to the Kingdom of Bhutan with its stunning natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage. This also furthers our longstanding partnership with the CG Group.”

CG Corp Global and CG Hospitality Global chairman Binod Chaudhary said: “Taking forward our partnership with IHCL spanning 25 years and 12 assets across six countries, the two Bhutan hotels, built with sustainability at the core, will showcase the unique blend of traditional Bhutanese charm and Taj's unmatched hospitality, offering travellers an unforgettable stay in the Himalayan kingdom.”

Situated on 7.6 acres of land amid protected forests in Paro, this Taj resort will offer 45 rooms along with an all-day diner and a speciality restaurant and bar.

Other amenities at the property include an indoor swimming pool, a spa and a gym as well as meeting facilities.

The hotel’s location provides guests access to sacred sites and historic structures set against the backdrop of snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

The Taj resort, situated in Phobjikha Valley, spans 3.5 acres and will feature 34 rooms, a spa and fitness facilities.

Guests at the property would also be able to dine at the alfresco speciality restaurant, an all-day diner and a bar.

Currently, IHCL manages 276 hotels, with 83 under development worldwide, spanning four continents, 11 countries and more than 100 locations.
