IHG Hotels & Resorts and Thailand-based lifestyle real estate group Asset World (AWC) have entered an agreement to open two new luxury resorts in Thailand.

This agreement for the two new properties, the InterContinental Chiang Rai Golden Triangle Resort and Kimpton Chiang Rai Golden Triangle, further bolsters the ongoing partnership between the two companies.

Located in Chiang Rai, the resorts will mark IHG's debut in Thailand's Golden Triangle, a region that features mountain and river landscapes bordering Laos and Myanmar.

InterContinental Chiang Rai Golden Triangle Resort is scheduled to open in 2025 and will feature 68 one and two-bedroom pool and plunge pool villas.

Meanwhile, Kimpton Chiang Rai Golden Triangle, presently known as the Imperial Golden Triangle Resort, will undergo a renovation and transform into the Kimpton brand. It will feature 68 suites and an array of facilities.

IHG Hotels & Resorts managing director for Southeast Asia and Korea Rajit Sukumaran said: “On the back of the recent opening of InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping, this signing is another milestone in IHG’s and AWC’s more than ten-year relationship and will provide travellers with the opportunity to explore more of northern Thailand.

“We remain on track to grow our luxury and lifestyle portfolio in Thailand by 50% and it’s fantastic to be expanding the InterContinental and Kimpton brands into new destinations.”

Asset World CEO and president Wallapa Traisorat said: “This partnership with IHG will put this most northern province of Thailand top of mind for many local and global tourists.

“With the special riverfront location, these two hotels will offer restaurants and bars by the river as well as lifestyle cruise experiences linking Thailand, Laos and Myanmar.”

The resorts will offer sustainable and organic food options as well as various Lanna wellness experiences.

Located an hour away from Mae Fah Luang - Chiang Rai International Airport and a 90-minute drive from the city of Chiang Rai, these properties offer mountain and jungle views.

Overlooking the Mekong River and its surrounding waterways, guests at the hotels can enjoy views of Laos and Myanmar in the distance.

Guests can also explore coffee plantations, visit hill tribes, enjoy scenic dining cruises and learn about batik art and traditional craftsmanship.

Currently, IHG has 34 hotels spanning nine brands and an additional 39 hotels in development in Thailand.

It plans to double the size of its hotel portfolio in the country within the next three to five years.

Generative AI can improve personalized healthcare by collecting data from patients via wearable devices. These wearables can provide continuous, real-time data that can complement traditional data sources such as imaging, patient records, and more. Generative AI tools can also help healthcare professionals make more accurate diagnoses by finding abnormalities that a healthcare professional may have missed. It can also enhance existing imaging techniques by generating high-quality images of organs using data from low-resolution images (such as ultrasounds).
