Hospitality giant IHG has joined forces with EnviroSpark, a leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, to make EV charging stations available at all IHG-branded hotels across the US and Canada.

This initiative expands upon IHG's existing network of 1,100 EV-equipped hotels globally, catering to the increasing adoption of electric vehicles and the corresponding demand for charging infrastructure during travel.

IHG said individual hotels can collaborate with EnviroSpark to tailor EV charger solutions to their specific needs and requirements.

IHG's mobile app has also been enhanced with an EV charger search filter, allowing guests to conveniently plan their journeys with charging stops in mind.

This partnership aligns with IHG's Journey to Tomorrow business plan, which emphasises sustainability efforts. Widespread EV charger availability supports the transition to a low-carbon economy, reflecting a shared commitment between IHG and EnviroSpark.

“Providing guests with more EV-charging convenience is a natural next step for IHG,” stated Brian McGuinness, SVP of Global Guest Experience at IHG Hotels & Resorts. “Through our agreement with EnviroSpark, we’re providing even more options for IHG owners to install EVCs at hotels while making travel easier for a growing segment of sustainability-minded travellers.”

“Together, we aim to create a seamless and environmentally friendly experience for travellers, contributing to a greener future and bringing us closer to our vision of widespread EV adoption," stated Aaron Luque, Founder and CEO, EnviroSpark.

Furthermore, IHG is providing hotel owners with an EV charging guide to encourage further charger installation across its 4,100+ North American properties.

By taking these steps, IHG positions itself as a leader in providing sustainable travel options and acknowledges the growing importance of EV infrastructure within the hospitality industry.
