IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its Spanish portfolio with the signing of four hotels across various brands, including Vignette Collection and Hotel Indigo.
This move will expand IHG's presence in Spain to nearly 13,000 open and signed rooms. The new signings comprise Vignette Collection Mallorca – Finca Banyols, Vignette Collection Jerez, Hotel Indigo Gandia – Beach, and Holiday Inn Express San Sebastian – Errenteria.
The Vignette Collection Mallorca – Finca Banyols, owned by Prevario Banyols and managed by Hotel Collection International, will be the first Vignette Collection in Spain. Slated to open in the first half of 2025, this 45-guest room property offers guests a unique stay amid vineyards and olive trees.
Vignette Collection Jerez is set to become the second Vignette Collection property in Spain. Signed with Senator Hotels & Resorts, it is located in Jerez's city centre, promising a luxury experience steeped in the region's rich history, cuisine, and culture. Its opening is scheduled for the second half of 2025.
Hotel Indigo Gandia – Beach, also in partnership with Senator Hotels & Resorts, will feature 40 rooms with Mediterranean Sea views. This beachfront property in the coastal city of Gandia is expected to open its doors in mid-2025, offering a beach club, pool, bar, and restaurant that embraces local flavours.
The Holiday Inn Express San Sebastian – Errenteria, an 82-room hotel managed by Hotel Collection International, is set to open in mid-2026. Located near San Sebastian, this hotel will provide easy access to the airport and the French border, reinforcing the Holiday Inn brand's Essentials segment in Spain.
IHG Hotels & Resorts Europe development vice-president Willemijn Geels said: “As one of IHG’s priority markets, it’s wonderful to grow our footprint so substantially in Spain, where we’ve signed nearly 700 rooms in the first nine months of this year. This significant expansion demonstrates the continued trust our owners have in our brands to provide strong returns on their investments, and our commitment to support them to capture demand and drive performance through our powerful enterprise.
“We have ambitious plans to accelerate the presence of both our powerhouse mainstream segment and our distinctive Luxury & Lifestyle collection in Spain’s key urban and leisure destinations with it being a key growth market for the company. It is truly a privilege to be able to deliver on these ambitions alongside so many of our longstanding and new growth partners. It is thanks to their trust in IHG and our talented teams that we can bring amazing new hotels right across our diverse brand portfolio to the market.”
As of 30 June 2024, IHG operated 55 hotels across eight brands in Spain, including Six Senses and InterContinental. The company also boasts 22 open Iberostar properties, with 12 more in development, enhancing its resort and all-inclusive offerings.
This year alone, IHG has announced the development of five new hotels, further diversifying its Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium, and Essentials collections.
