IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered a management contract with Kajima to launch ANA Holiday Inn Resort Karuizawa in Japan.
This marks the first collaboration between IHG and Japanese real estate company Kajima as part of a broader development partnership in Japan.
Presently known as President Resort Karuizawa, the resort will undergo a facelift before reopening under the new brand.
The launch of ANA Holiday Inn Resort Karuizawa is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.
IHG-ANA Hotels Group Japan CEO and IHG Hotels & Resorts Japan & Micronesia managing director Abhijay Sandilya said: “Following Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park in Thailand with Kajima Corporation, we are very honoured to announce that we have reached an agreement to open ANA Holiday Inn Resort Karuizawa with them.
“Karuizawa, long a favourite with political, business and cultural visitors, as well as foreign travellers, is the perfect location to launch this partnership between IHG and Kajima. We look forward to building on this long-standing partnership and developing even more great hotels throughout Japan in the years to come.”
Positioned at an altitude of 1,300m in the Asama wilderness, the resort is located an hour and a half from Tokyo Station.
It will offer 100 guest rooms, two pet-friendly villas, a restaurant, natural hot springs, a gym, an indoor swimming pool, and additional amenities.
Adjacent to the hotel, guests will have access to a ski slope suitable for all ages and an 18-hole golf course, ensuring a variety of year-round activities. They can also access the IHG One Rewards programme, which has over 130 million members.
The addition of ANA Holiday Inn Resort Karuizawa will expand the Holiday Inn brand family in Japan to ten hotels and will mark IHG’s second Karuizawa hotel.
Last month, IHG signed an agreement with NOVUM Hospitality to double its reach in Germany to more than 200 hotels via brand collaborations and debuts.
