IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with A R Resorts & Hotels for the development of a new voco-branded hotel in Punjab, India.

The 139-key voco Amritsar Airport hotel is situated in the city of Amritsar and is expected to open in December 2024.

It will mark the first voco hotel in the state and fifth in India.

Earlier this year, the brand debuted in India when IHG signed a management agreement with Satyadeo Hospitality to convert the existing Corbet Aamond Spa & Resort to voco.

voco Amritsar Airport will feature an 805m² space spread across five event venues, including a ballroom that caters for social gatherings, meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.

It will also feature three food and beverage outlets, an outdoor pool, a gym, and a spa.

The hotel’s location within proximity to the airport will offer guests access to spots such as the Golden Temple, targeting religious, leisure, and business travellers.

IHG Hotels & Resorts Southwest Asia managing director Sudeep Jain said: “We are thrilled to expand our premium offering in India and partner with A R Resorts & Hotels to debut the brand in Punjab.

“We are confident that once opened, voco Amritsar airport will cater to the needs of discerning travellers seeking a modern and comfortable hospitality experience.”

A R Resorts & Hotels managing director Gulsahil Singh said: “We are delighted to partner with an internationally and locally trusted hospitality brand like IHG Hotels & Resorts to debut the voco brand in Punjab and offer upscale experiences to guests.”

The latest development comes after IHG extended its strategic partnership with RAK Properties for the rollout of a new Staybridge Suites-branded property in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

IHG currently has 45 hotels under five diverse brands in India, with 45 additional properties scheduled to open over the next three to five years.
