IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a new management agreement with Samty K K to open voco Hiroshima in 2027.
This marks the second voco hotel in Japan, following the successful launch of voco Osaka in 2022.
voco Hiroshima will be a 301-room new-build property within a major urban development project next to Hiroshima station.
The hotel's design will incorporate elements that reflect the rich history of the area, including the famous Saigoku Kaido Edo period highway on which it stands.
Beyond offering a premium hotel experience, voco Hiroshima will cater to the needs of the local community. Plans include an outdoor café, a dedicated meeting space for residents and a comfortable waiting area for bus passengers.
The hotel will also function as a designated temporary evacuation area during emergencies.
In a statement, Takahiro Yamamoto, director of development for IHG Hotels & Resorts Japan commented: “We are honoured to partner with Samty, one of Japan's leading integrated real estate companies. We are grateful to Mr Yasunobu Ogawa, president and CEO of Samty, and we hope that the construction of voco Hiroshima will contribute to the further development of the local tourism industry by promoting voco's unique global brand power and the wonderful attractions of Hiroshima, together with Samty's business goal of making everyone's dreams come true.”
voco is IHG's rapidly growing upscale brand known for its unique and personalised guest experiences.
The brand name comes from the Latin word for “to invite” or “to gather,” reflecting voco’s welcoming and social atmosphere.
Notable features include a welcoming experience tailored to the hotel’s location, comfortable and stylish guest rooms and vibrant social spaces such as restaurants, cafes and bars.
The addition of voco Hiroshima strengthens IHG's presence in Japan, which currently includes 47 hotels across seven brands.
With eight more hotels planned to open by 2025, including properties under the Regent, Six Senses and Vignette Collection luxury banners, IHG remains committed to expanding its portfolio in this key market.
