IHG Hotels and Resorts opens first voco brand property in Osaka, Japan

This 191-room hotel has dedicated meetings spaces, a 24-hour gym and an onsite Lokal House restaurant.

Multinational hospitality company IHG Hotels and Resorts, in partnership with UD Hospitality Management, has opened its first voco-branded property in Osaka, Japan.

The debut of the new voco Osaka Central was marked by an official ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by various guests and officials from Osaka Convention and Tourism Bureau, NTT Urban Development Corporation and Zenitaka Corporation.

The new voco in Kyomachibori, Osaka, has a total of 191 guestrooms and suites, each featuring traditional Japanese sitting areas and architecture.

The property is located within five minutes of Osaka Metro stations, Higobashi, Honmachi and Yodoyabashi.

Guests can also dine at the in-house voco signature restaurant, named Lokal House and at the adjoining bar and café.

Other amenities provided at the hotel include dedicated meetings and evening spaces, a 24-hour gym and fitness room and social spaces for guests.

IHG ANA Hotels Group CEO and managing director Abhijay Sandilya said: “The debut builds on IHG’s continued momentum opening new brands in Japan, including the launch and growth of Hotel Indigo and Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants over the past three years and the upcoming launch of Regent Hotels the Resorts and Six Senses opening soon.”

In a separate development, IHG Hotels and Resorts has opened its new 124-room Holiday Inn property in Melbourne, Australia.

The new hotel, Holiday Inn Dandenong, is situated in Dandenong’s business and entertainment district at 50-52 McCrae Street.

The hotel is owned by Pelligra Group, which has invested approximately A$12m ($7.76m) into the property to transform it into a next-generation Holiday Inn hotel with all the signature features of this brand.

All the rooms in the hotels have now been transformed, with 16 newly built rooms.

It features an open lobby concept, the Dandelion Lounge + Eatery, a 24-hour fitness centre, 24/7 in-room dining, underground parking and free Wi-Fi for guests.

The property also has 154m² of function spaces, including a large meeting room called Dandenong Room and a separate, light-filled boardroom to host smaller meetings.
