The Jekyll Island Club Resort and Jekyll Ocean Club in the US have completed a $25m renovation to enhance the guest experience.
Located between the East River and the Atlantic Ocean on the Golden Isles of Georgia, the Jekyll Island Club Resort was acquired by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust in 2021.
It is managed by Noble House Hotels & Resorts.
The redevelopment project, which was overseen by waldrop+nichols studio, features nearly 125 guestroom configurations across the resort's structures, including the American Queen Anne-style clubhouse, Cherokee Cottage, Sans Souci, Crane Cottage, and the Ocean Club.
Work also involved renovating riverside and oceanfront pools, as well as public spaces, including the Palm Court lobby and Grand Dining Room.
The resort’s exterior and structure, which are part of the Jekyll Island National Historic District, have remained unchanged.
Jekyll Island Clubhouse’s guestrooms now feature oversized headboards and custom furnishings, drawing inspiration from the Clubhouse's Palladian window.
In addition, the resort's Grand Dining Room at The Clubhouse has been upgraded to include a carpet design reflecting the island's natural wildlife while the outdoor spaces have been updated with new verandah furniture.
The pool area has been enhanced with new cabanas and an expanded patio.
Each of the three cottages on the property has been redesigned to feature distinct colour palettes and design elements. Sans Souci offers Victorian-era charm while Crane and Cherokee Cottages are inspired by local wildlife.
The transformation effort has further upgraded the Ocean Club’s guestrooms with new artwork and amenities, as well as enhanced the pool area with private cabanas, increased fire pits and lounge seating.
The Ocean Club also includes a new fitness room featuring a Peloton bike.
Looking ahead, the resort plans to further enhance its meeting spaces and dining venues, including The Wharf and Eighty Ocean restaurants. A new oceanfront sky terrace is also set to open at the Ocean Club in early 2024.
Jekyll Island Club Resort sales and marketing director Kevin Baker said: “Our reimagination has been carefully curated to underscore the resort's story and honour the island's profound connection to nature. Every choice has been made purposefully, reflecting the rich tapestry of Jekyll Island's flora and fauna through vibrant colour palettes and inspired design motifs.”
