Karisma Hotels & Resorts introduces world’s first autism concierge

The initiative aims to provide valuable support for guests traveling with a child with autism or adult guests with autism.

Karisma Hotels & Resorts has joined forces with Autism Double-Checked, the company that provides information on autism awareness in the travel industry, to launch an innovative service - the world's first autism concierge.

This groundbreaking initiative offers a dedicated contact for all autism-related inquiries, extending support to guests with autism and their families.

Vice-president of operations Daniel Lozano expressed the company's commitment to exceeding guests' expectations by accommodating their unique needs.

The autism concierge adds another resource to ensure that guests' concerns are taken seriously, making them feel at home during their stay at the resorts.

Inclusive training for staff and future plans

Karisma Hotels & Resorts ensures all their staff members undergo the comprehensive training offered by Autism Double-Checked.

Their three-part training programme equips staff to handle specific situations that may arise when catering to guests with the condition.

In 2023, the company also plans to introduce temporary door alarms upon guests' request, providing an added layer of safety and peace of mind for families with autistic children.

Autism Double-checked's mission and certification

Autism Double-Checked was established to equip the travel industry with industry-specific and job-specific training, enabling staff to better serve guests with autism.

This training empowers the 25 million-strong autism community in the US to confidently choose travel opportunities that suit their needs.

The programme culminates in obtaining the Autism Double-Checked certificate, signifying the hotel's readiness and ability to cater to families and guests impacted by autism.

In the pursuit of inclusion

Alan Day, co-founder and CEO of Autism Double-Checked, emphasised the importance of specialised training to understand and meet the specific needs of travellers with autism. He praised Karisma Hotels & Resorts' dedication to pursuing this vision of diversity and inclusion.

In Mexico, Karisma resorts including Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya, Margaritaville Beach Resort Riviera Cancún, Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancún, Generations Riviera Maya, El Dorado Royale, El Dorado Casitas Royale, El Dorado Maroma, El Dorado Seaside Suites and Palafitos Overwater Bungalows have completed the intensive training to be certified as Autism Double-Checked.

In the Dominican Republic, staff at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana and Margaritaville Beach Resort Cap Cana have also completed the certification.

With the introduction of the autism concierge and their commitment to inclusive training, Karisma Hotels & Resorts aims to set new standards in the travel industry, fostering a welcoming environment for guests with autism and their families.
