Knightscope has deployed its 5th Generation K5 (K5v5) Autonomous Security Robot (ASR) at a hotel in Memphis, Tennessee, US.

Knightscope is a public safety technology company that provides a safe lodging experience for guests, visitors, and staff.

Earlier this week, the company announced the launch of the K5v5 ASR. It received a comprehensive redesign and approval for a production launch.

Production has commenced, and the machines are currently being shipped to fulfil contracts for various clients across the US.

The robot is designed for continuous outdoor operation, autonomously running 24/7 and recharging itself without human intervention.

It can also continuously monitor in adverse conditions and is capable of navigating multiple levels.

Knightscope noted that the ASR will monitor and secure the hotel's parking areas and notify staff of potential threats, enabling swift response when help is required.

Operators and administrators, when incorporating the robot, are expected to consider all facets of security.

This approach will help achieve organisational, technical, as well as physical measures for timely prevention and response to any potential threat.

K5v5 ASR is also claimed to offer a branded guest experience with customised broadcast messages greeting passersby.

These messages also serve as a deterrent to potential wrongdoers.

The ASR also includes thermal anomaly detection and automatic signal detection, along with watchlists for approved, denied, and unknown MAC addresses.

It detects individuals during restricted hours and has license plate recognition for parking monitoring and watchlists of vehicles that are approved and denied.
