Marriott International has underscored its commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles with the release of its 2024 Serve 360 report.

The comprehensive document outlines significant progress towards the company’s 2025 sustainability and social impact goals while signalling a robust roadmap for the future.

At the heart of Marriott’s ESG strategy is the Serve 360 platform, which guides initiatives across four key pillars: Nurture Our World, Sustain Responsible Operations, Empower Through Opportunity and Welcome All and Advance Human Rights.

A pivotal focus has been mitigating climate change.

Marriott has achieved a significant milestone by verifying its science-based emissions reduction targets with its science-based targets initiative.

The company has also rolled out a comprehensive climate action programme to reduce carbon footprints across its global portfolio.

To support the shift towards electric mobility, Marriott has expanded its electric vehicle charging infrastructure, with more than 7,100 chargers now available at its properties worldwide.

Beyond environmental stewardship, Marriott is deeply committed to social responsibility.

The company reported 3.1 million volunteer hours contributed by its associates to local communities in 2023. This underscores Marriott’s dedication to creating positive change in the communities it serves.

The company has also made significant strides in diversity and inclusion, with a particular focus on hiring refugees and combatting human trafficking.

Regional initiatives, such as fundraising efforts in the United Arab Emirates, sea turtle conservation in Mexico, and food rescue programmes in Southeast Asia, highlight Marriott’s holistic approach to ESG.
