Marriott International has signed an agreement to open Patmos Aktis, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, in the Dodecanese Islands of Greece, following its renovation.
The resort is set to open between July and August of 2024 in partnership with the property’s owners, Investment Fund SMERemediumCap.
Once open, it is claimed to become the only existing luxury resort on the island of Patmos.
The resort's renovation, led by Stylianidis Vaggelis Architects and Anastassiadis Architecture & Design, will include 56 guestrooms, suites and villas, with additional guestrooms scheduled for 2025.
Marriott International vice-president for luxury brands for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Helen Leighton said: “Bringing The Luxury Collection to the idyllic island of Patmos on the Dodecanese further cements the brand’s leadership in luxury hospitality while providing our guests access to a captivating and relatively undiscovered destination to experience authentic Greece.”
Investment Fund SMERemediumCap (SMERC) chairman Nick Karamouzis said: “The opening of Patmos Aktis, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Greece will mark an important milestone for Patmos Island and a strategic triumph for the hotel.

The resort will have a signature restaurant offering local island dishes, along with a bar and terrace offering stunning bay views.
Guests can also dine at Plefsis Tavern, a traditional Greek taverna on the beach which serves authentic Dodecanese cuisine.
The resort’s interior design, led by Patricia Anastassiadis, will feature a palette of creams, whites and soft blues, along with local artwork and traditional Greek design.
Among other amenities provided at the property include a spa, offering an array of beauty treatments using rose essence products.
Guests at Patmos Aktis can discover the volcanic terrain, go for a hike along scenic trails and visit hilltop villages and ancient monasteries.
Furthermore, the property will provide access to sailing excursions to local beaches and nearby Arkoi islands for swimming and picnicking, along with market tours and cooking classes.
