Accor’s Mercure brand opens hotel in Sibiu, Romania

The hotel will be operated for ten years under a management agreement between Accor and local investor Compa Sibiu.

Mercure, a part of Accor, has further expanded its portfolio with the opening of Mercure Sibiu Arsenal in Romania.

Located at 48 Victoriei Boulevard, across from Sub Arini Park in the town of Sibiu, the hotel will be operated for ten years under a management agreement between Accor and local investor Compa Sibiu.

Accor vice-president for development of premium, midscale and economy for Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Italy and Greece, Frank Reul, said: “Strengthening Accor’s presence in Sibiu, one of Romania’s most picturesque and culturally rich cities of Romania, has been a key target for us.

“Nevertheless, I always say that having a hotel in a city is not the end goal. Having the best hotel for that area is what we always aim for.”

Mercure Sibiu Arsenal general manager Livia Hoffman said: “We aim for Mercure Sibiu Arsenal to soon become a flagship destination for Sibiu and for the region.

“The brand’s unwavering commitment to quality, strengthened by our team’s passion and enthusiasm, will be the guarantee of a consistent and reliable standard of service.”

It features 121 rooms, 81 twin rooms, 30 superior rooms, two accessible rooms, five privilege rooms and three suites, all catering to leisure as well as business travellers.

The hotel’s design features handcrafted terracotta tiles, while the reception displays intricate patterns and vibrant colours.

Guests at the property can dine at Winestone, which serves local as well as international cuisine.

The hotel can host corporate and private events, accommodating up to 200 guests in a ballroom setup and 250 guests in a theatre setup.

It also includes four conference rooms and one foyer.

Other amenities provided at the property include an indoor pool, a fitness centre and 154 indoor and outdoor parking spaces for guests travelling to the town by car.

Guests also have access to nearby locations, such as Transfagarasan Highway, Brukenthal National Museum and the Sibiu Christmas Market.

Currently, Mercure is a midscale brand with over 824 hotels across 62 countries.
