PricewaterhouseCoopers forecasts robust growth of 12% in Nigeria's hospitality industry from 2019 to 2023.

Fierce competition spurs hotel rankings

In this thriving sector, hotel establishments engage in fierce competition, employing strategic collaborations and targeted advertising to establish their supremacy and attract their desired audience.

Nairametrics, a media company based in Lagos, Nigeria, has meticulously analysed data from Google's Nigerian search engine results page to unveil the most popular hotels in Nigeria.

Nairametrics' analysis of Google's search data highlights the top hotels in Nigeria based on user search volumes.

1. Radisson Blu Hotel tops the list with 48.3k searches

Securing the top spot is the Radisson Blu Hotel, with a significant search volume of 48.3k according to Google's search results. Radisson Blu operates multiple outlets, including one in Ikeja and another on Victoria Island, Lagos.

Nightly accommodation expenses at the Ikeja and Victoria Island outlets average around N241,321 and N198,802 respectively. Managed by the global hospitality conglomerate Radisson Hotels, this 5-star establishment falls under the purview of Avalon Intercontinental Nigeria.

2. Marriott Hotel takes second place with 45.9k searches

Ranking second is the Marriott Hotel, a 5-star gem at 122 Joel Ogunnaike Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, with a search volume of 45.9k visitors. Marriott International has a rich legacy dating back to 1927.

An overnight stay at the Marriott Hotel comes with an estimated cost of N195,623.

3. Transcorp Hilton secures third place with 27.8k searches

Claiming third spot is the luxurious Transcorp Hilton Abuja, with a search volume of 27.8k. This 5-star haven is located in Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, near notable landmarks including the Abuja National Mosque and Millennium Park.

A night's stay at Transcorp Hilton Abuja comes with an estimated price tag of N200,000. Owned by Transcorp Hotels Plc, the hotel is a subsidiary of Transnational Corporation Plc.

4. Eko Hotels grabs fourth place with 22.9k searches

Eko Hotel and Suites, a 5-star delight, claims fourth position with a search volume of 22.9k. Situated on Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Eko Hotel offers a night's stay at an average cost of approximately N98,668.

The establishment's history in Nigeria began in 1977 with its foundation by Nigerian-Lebanese business tycoons Ronald and Gilbert Chagoury.

5. Lagos Continental ranks fifth with 14.2k searches

Taking fifth spot is Lagos Continental, a sought-after haven with a search volume of 14.2k. Located on Victoria Island, Lagos Continental offers accommodation at an estimated price of N241,879.

 The hotel is owned by 11 Hospitality Limited, a subsidiary of 11Plc (formerly Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc), with its acquisition linked to a transition from Milan Industries.

6. Federal Palace Hotel holds sixth place with 11.3k searches

Securing sixth place is the Federal Palace Hotel with a search volume of 11.3k. The hotel, situated along Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, combines accommodation with casino extravagance.

An overnight stay at the Federal Palace Hotel costs an estimated N127,922. It is owned by Sun International, with roots going back to South Africa since 1969.

7. Lagos Oriental Hotel occupies seventh place with 9.3k searches

In seventh spot is the Lagos Oriental Hotel, with a search volume of 9.3k from Nigerian users. This 5-star establishment, located at 3 Lekki – Epe Expressway, Victoria Island, charges an average nightly rate of around N184,710.

Lagos Oriental Hotel was founded by the Tung family, owners of the Western Metal Products Company, which was established by businessman Mr KF Tung more than half a century ago.
