Oman records 32% growth in hotel revenue as of end of June 2023

In H1 2023, the total count of guests increased by 27.4% to hit 943,068.

The revenue from hotels in Oman exceeded OR110m ($285.7m) as of the end of June 2023, representing a surge of 32% against the corresponding period of 2022, according to the Times of Oman.

The statistics announced by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicate growth in the tourism industry.

In the first half (H1) of 2023, the total count of guests at three and five-star hotels in the country increased by 27.4% to 943,068, as against 740,050 in the same period of the previous year.

Hotel occupancy saw a growth rate of 10.8%, according to the statistics, which indicated a breakdown of hotel guests based on their nationalities, EnergyPortal.eu reported.

Out of the total count of hotel guests, 337,682 were Omanis, indicating a rise of 28.7%.

Furthermore, the count of Gulf Cooperation Council tourists who occupied the Omani hotels grew by 28.7%, amounting to a total count of 72,849.

European guests contributed immensely to the growth of hotel occupancy, with a surge of 46.3% against 2022, with the count of tourists from Europe hitting 250,151 in H1 2023.

Additionally, the statistics also indicate a positive trend in visitors from other regions.

The count of visitors from the US grew by 3.2%, while tourists from countries on the African continent increased by 41.3%.

Tourists from Asia grew by 54%, amounting to a total of 141,007 guests.

Visitors from the Oceania region grew by 252.2%, with a total of 21,834.

According to the NCSI, the statistics show a positive trend in the country’s tourism industry this year, with a huge revenue increase and a growth in international guests in hotels.
