ONYX Hospitality Group has announced the expansion of its serviced apartment brand, Shama, with the launch of Shama Rayong in Thailand.
The signing ceremony was held at Amari Bangkok this week, with the property set to open in the first quarter of 2026.
This move is claimed to be in response to the increasing demand for serviced apartments.
The property is being developed in collaboration with Dream D.
Shama Rayong will feature more than 150 rooms, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments.
The property will also feature amenities such as a restaurant, swimming pool, gym, and meeting rooms.
ONYX Hospitality Group CEO Yuthachai Charanachitta said: “We are thrilled to unveil Shama Rayong, marking a pivotal moment for the Shama brand, in response to the growing demand for serviced apartments, particularly in the business travel segment.
“Shama Rayong will cater to a diverse clientele, offering a seamless blend of comfort, convenience, and local immersion for both business travellers and expatriate families.”
It will be a 30-minute drive away from Rayong City Centre, offering access to industrial and business hubs, such as WHA Rayong 36 and CPGC, within a 15-20 minute drive.
The property will also be a short drive from international schools such as St Andrews International School, Green Valley, and Singapore International School, Rayong.
ONYX Hospitality Group currently operates six properties in the country, totalling 16 Shama properties, and has another five under construction.
The expansion includes upcoming openings in Malaysia, Hong Kong, and China.
The latest announcement comes after the company announced a partnership with UNESCO for cultural sustainability earlier this year.
This collaboration marks the first of its kind for a hospitality management company in the Asia Pacific region.
