Chicago-based real estate company Oxford Capital Group has announced a long-term lease for the Thompson Washington, D.C. hotel with its owner Germany’s Union Investment.
The property will now be managed by Oxford Hotels & Resorts, a wholly-owned affiliate of Oxford Capital Group.
This agreement has added the 225-room hotel to Oxford's portfolio of luxury lifestyle hotels in the US.
The portfolio includes Godfrey Hotels in Chicago, Boston, Tampa, Hollywood and Detroit; Thompson Chicago; Le Méridien Essex Chicago; LondonHouse Hotel Chicago; the Versey; The Julian as well as The Porter Hotel Portland.
Oxford Capital Group and Oxford Hotels & Resorts founder, chairman and CEO John W. Thompson Washington D.C. is located in the waterfront Navy Yard neighbourhood of Washington, D.C. It lies a short distance from Anacostia Riverwalk Trail and The Yards Park.
The 11-storey hotel, which opened in 2020, was developed to serve as the social anchor of a 42-acre mixed-used project, called The Yards.
This hotel boasts 17 suites with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer views of the Anacostia River and Nationals Park.
Its two Thompson Suites with outdoor terraces offer views of the Washington Navy Yard.
The hotel’s Surveyor is a signature American-inspired restaurant, while its rooftop bar, called The Rooftop At The Thompson, serves cocktails and bites.
It also features an indoor and outdoor event and meeting space spanning 7,000ft².
