Radisson Hotel Group strengthens Saudi presence with new Makkah hotel

Radisson Hotel Group has expanded its Saudi Arabian footprint with the opening of Park Inn by Radisson Makkah Thakher Alsharqi.

The strategically located hotel reinforces the group's commitment to the Kingdom's Vision 2030 goals of boosting tourism and enhancing the Hajj pilgrimage experience.

Situated within the Thakher City development, Park Inn by Radisson Makkah Thakher Alsharqi is 2.2km from the Grand Mosque.

The mixed-use project, featuring 97 towers, a mall and a mosque, caters to the growing number of pilgrims and visitors to Makkah.

The hotel's opening aligns with Radisson Hotel Group's expansion strategy in Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which prioritises economic diversification through tourism growth. 

Park Inn by Radisson Makkah Thakher Alsharqi offers 133 rooms. Guests can enjoy international and local cuisine at the all-day dining restaurant or the welcoming lobby café.

“The opening of Park Inn by Radisson Makkah Thakher Alsharqi represents a significant milestone in our expansion strategy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said Tim Cordon, chief operating officer for the Middle East and Africa, and Southeast Asia Pacific, for Radisson Hotel Group, in a statement.

“We remain committed to supporting the Kingdom's Vision 2030 by providing world-class hospitality experiences that meet the needs of both pilgrims and leisure travellers.”

“Makkah remains a key destination for religious tourists, and we aim to cater to the evolving needs of pilgrims and leisure travellers,” said Bassam Khanfar, the hotel's general manager.

“We hope to play an integral role in shaping Makkah's hospitality future by aligning with the country's progressive vision."

Part of the Thakher Makkah project, the hotel sits within a 320,000m² development representing a a total investment of $7bn.

The project will encompass residential, commercial and hospitality spaces, accommodating more than 1.6 million visitors and pilgrims. Saudi Arabia aims to host 30 million Umrah pilgrims annually under Vision 2030.
