RARE India has further expanded its portfolio by partnering with two new hotels in Nepal, Nepali Ghar Hotel and Sanctuary Resort.

The latest additions join RARE Community’s existing property in Nepal, Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge, reported ETHospitalityWorld

Nepali Ghar Hotel is a 61-room property located in the Thamel area of Kathmandu, offering both traditional Nepalese architecture and modern amenities.

The hotel features Seto Ghar, a 200-year-old building that has been restored to preserve the historical aesthetics of the Rana period using local materials and craftsmen.

A 30% portion of land remains undeveloped, aiding in groundwater recharge.

The staff, sourced from the local community, receive ongoing training to enhance their skills.

Nepali Ghar Hotel also uses solar energy and energy-efficient lighting to minimise its environmental footprint.

Nepali Ghar Hotel operations manager Sujan Tandukar said: “This collaboration with RARE has enabled us to reach a broader market and has significantly contributed to promoting Nepal as a desirable travel destination.”

Sanctuary Resort is situated on a six-acre area near Chitwan National Park in Amaltari offering views of the Narayani River.

The 27-room resort's design pays homage to the Tharu people's heritage.

It includes local staff, uses traditional craftsmanship and locally sourced materials.

Sanctuary Resort hospitality adviser Vijay Nanmaran said: “Primarily, our search was for a partner who could promote authentic Sanctuary experiences in the Indian subcontinent, and we found RARE was among the first movers who promoted destinations through experiences and asserted the need for conscious travel and sustainable luxury.”

RARE India currently has 90 properties across India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan.
