Lodging company Red Roof is continuing its partnership with St Jude Children's Research Hospital with a donation programme called Room in Your Heart.

Travellers who book and stay at the brands Red Roof Inn, Red Roof PLUS+, HomeTowne Studios by Red Roof or The Red Collection property from 13 November to 28 December 2023 will save 15% on their stay and 5% of the purchase price will be donated to the hospital.

Red Roof has more than 60,000 rooms in 700 properties in the US, Brazil and Japan. GlobalData identifies the company as a key player in the budget to midscale hotel market.

In recognition of the contributions Red Roof has made to St Jude over the years, the company was selected to receive the 2023 St Jude Emerging Partner of the Year Award.

"Since 2021, the support of Red Roof has helped St. Jude Children's Research Hospital continue to accelerate research and treatment for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases," said Lyles Eddins, senior vice-president of relational advancement for ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organisation for St Jude.

Red Roof chief marketing officer Marina Macdonald added: “Last year, we set a goal to raise $40,000, and we far exceeded that goal, raising a total of $100,000. This year, we aim to exceed that amount, and help St Jude continue to provide children treatments not covered by insurance, at no cost to families."

Previous Room in Your Heart philanthropic campaigns have supported organisations including the United Way Worldwide, the American Cancer Society and Canine Companions.

Gen Z and their impact on the travel and tourism industry

Gen Z has been called the most disruptive generation ever by Bank of America, and its influence is on the rise at a time of great uncertainty. Gen Z's focus on local and micro-tourism is reshaping the industry towards a more sustainable, community-centric, and culturally enriching approach to travel. This shift is not only influencing the destinations and activities that are popular but also the way travel companies market and provide services to cater to the preferences of this generation.
