A fund managed by Resolution Property has sold the UK's Hyatt Place London City East Hotel to Singapore-based investment company Sun Venture, in a deal that was advised by BCLP.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

This transaction marks Sun Venture's first investment in the hotel industry.

European hotel management company Cycas Hospitality will continue to oversee the hotel's operations.

A former office at 45 Whitechapel, London, was transformed into this 280-key hotel.

Resolution partner Scott O’Donnell said: “Hyatt Place London City East is a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certified hotel providing guests with a superbly well-connected hotel, offering a number of amenities and a roof terrace with unrivalled views over East London.

“Resolution Property acquired the asset in 2015 and has successfully repositioned and refurbished it into one of London’s most high-performing sustainable hotels.”

Dining options at the hotel include the Zoom East Kitchen & Bar and the Market.

The hotel’s Pocketsquare Skyline Bar and Terrace doubles as a dining space serving a list of cocktails and as an event space with a capacity of up to 80 guests.

BCLP has been involved in the full life cycle of the building since the initial acquisition in 2015, the subsequent redevelopment and now its sale.

Its multi-disciplinary team involved in the latest development included members from its real estate, construction, corporate real estate, employment and finance divisions.

Meanwhile, Taylor Wessing provided legal counsel to Sun Venture.

Last November, plans to sell a Hyatt Place property were announced by ARA US Hospitality Trust for a price of $7.7m.
