Two-way integration enables hotels to automate their upselling process and improve upsell revenue.

US-based Roomdex has announced the release of a two-way integration with Infor Hospitality Management Solution (HMS).

Roomdex is a technology provider of attribute-based selling for use by hotels in upselling.

Infor HMS is a cloud-based hotel property management system (PMS) offering flexibility, security and mobile features.

This two-way integration aims to enable hotels to automate their upselling process and improve upsell revenue.

Roomdex automatically connects to the PMS and gathers all configuration information as well as any active reservations, following which it calculates operational availability, matches offers to guest profiles, prices the offers dynamically based on demand, and then writes the finished transaction to the guest reservation in Infor HMS.

Infor SVP and general manager Joe Vargas stated: "We believe that hotel technology should, first and foremost, serve the guest experience.

"Enabling the ROOMDEX integration gives our hotels the opportunity to employ a unique and dynamic way to give guests more control over the design of their stay experience."

The two-way integration is expected to decrease the activation time for hotel upselling automation.

Roomdex CEO and co-founder Jos Schaap stated: "We are committed to helping hotels running Infor HMS activate and get automated upselling running as easily as possible, so ROOMDEX will not charge the hotel for the service until such time as the hotel has recovered the cost of Infor Interface through revenue from ROOMDEX."

After ordering the interface from Infor, the hotels need to add a few specifics such as pictures and feature descriptions. Within a few hours, the interface allows the hotels to sell and guarantee room upgrades prior to check-in, room-specific room attributes and early check-in and late check-out facilities, along with ancillary guest services.

Demand for upscale and luxurious products has been rising steadily in the travel and tourism sector

The increased need for privacy, a greater focus on health and wellbeing, a desire to tick off ‘bucket list’ experiences, the tendency to take longer trips, the focus on eco-tourism, and an increase in millionaires means the theme of premiumization will continue to grow in importance. The travel industry will experience a surge in demand for higher-end and customized offerings as experiential consumption keeps growing. While premiumization attracts only a small number of global travelers, it is a valuable revenue stream for companies as it is unlikely to be impacted by external factors like economic downturns.
