US-based real estate holding company Saltwater Holdings has acquired The Hive, a boutique hotel in North Carolina.
The hotel was originally opened by the Rosenberg family, local real estate investors, in collaboration with developer Kaylie O'Connor in 2019.
They purchased the building in 2009 and enlisted the expertise of local interior decorator Robin Hertzog.
Saltwater Holdings owner Richard Stroupe said: “We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of The Hive and deeply honoured to uphold the Rosenbergs' vision and carefully crafted distinctive charm.”
Situated at 505 N. 2nd Street, the hotel offers 15 apartment-style suites.
Each suite features full-size kitchens, laptop-friendly workspaces, along with an array of complimentary in-suite amenities, including snacks, coffee, tea, and other beverages.
Among other amenities provided at the property include a gym, wedding event planning services, high-speed internet, on-site parking and more.
It is two blocks from downtown Wilmington's riverfront and near historic sites, breweries, and various entertainment venues.
Local property management services company BlueStar Real Estate will oversee the management of The Hive under the new ownership.
BlueStar Real Estate owner Kristin Kelly Freeman said: “BlueStar has extensive experience with boutique hotel and commercial property management.
“We're dedicated to making sure The Hive offers efficient and excellent hospitality to its guests.”
Saltwater Holdings' existing hotel properties in Surf City include the Saltwater Suites Hotel and the upcoming Saltwater Resort, scheduled to open in April 2024.
Saltwater Suites Hotel offers ocean views and a range of amenities catering to couples, families and groups.
Stroupe added: “We're excited to continue offering unique, unparalleled guest experiences in this thriving area.”
