Scandic has expanded its Scandic Go brand with the launch of a hotel at Fridhemsplan in Stockholm, Sweden.

The 234-room hotel, developed in collaboration with property owner Pandox, is situated on the Kungsholmen island in Stockholm.

The companies have invested in a thorough renovation of the hotel, aligning it with the Scandic Go brand's commitment to affordability, design, and self-service.

Fridhemsplan serves as a bustling entry point to central Stockholm, surrounded by residential buildings, eateries, bars, and green spaces.

The Scandic Go brand is claimed to be characterised by its competitive pricing, appealing design, efficient self-service, and 24/7 availability of breakfast and hot meals.

This new addition to the Scandic portfolio is also Nordic Swan Ecolabel certified, reflecting the company's commitment to sustainability.

Innovative use of recycled materials, such as chairs made from coffee grounds and tabletops from recycled textiles, underscores the brand's eco-conscious approach.

The new hotel's decor prioritises recycled materials, aiming to minimise CO₂ emissions and offer a green guest experience. Items are designed for disassembly, enabling reuse or recycling, further enhancing the hotel's environmental credentials.

With this opening, Scandic now operates two Scandic Go hotels, totalling 358 rooms.

Scandic Hotels managing director for Sweden Peter Jangbratt said: “We're delighted to be opening our second Scandic Go in Stockholm. Since the start a little more than a year ago, our brand in the fast-growing economy segment has been well received by both guests and partners.

“Right now, I’m really looking forward to establishing a strong presence on Kungsholmen, an area of the capital that Scandic hasn’t operated in earlier. Stockholm is an important market for us, and we’re now sending a clear signal that we’re dedicated to continuing to provide fantastic options for travelers who want to focus on all that Stockholm has to offer.”

Earlier in October 2024, Scandic entered into a long-term, revenue-based lease agreement with AXA Investment Managers for a 174-room hotel at Stuttgart in Germany.

This hotel is set to open in late 2025 after renovations.
