Hospitality management company SH Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans for the debut of Baccarat Hotel & Residences Maldives in 2027.
The company is an affiliate of private investment company Starwood Capital Group as well as the parent company of Baccarat Hotels & Resorts.
Owned by Madevco Holdings (ADGM), the resort aims to redefine luxury in the South Malé Atoll, spanning five islands across over 111 acres.
Starwood Capital Group chairman and CEO Barry Sternlicht said: "We are excited to unveil Baccarat Hotel & Residences Maldives, which fuses the timeless elegance and modern sophistication of the House of Baccarat, the legendary 260-year-old crystal brand, with the Maldives, a location that is synonymous with paradise.”
SH Hotels & Resorts CEO Raul Leal said: “Our debut in the Maldives marks an exhilarating milestone for the Baccarat brand.
“We are shaping a new identity in an already remarkable region, and we are confident that this property will define ultimate luxury in the Maldives.”
It is designed by architecture company HKS while the interiors are being done by 1508 London.
It will feature more than 50 hotel villas and 53 private residences, along with speciality restaurants.
Accommodations will range from one- to three-bedroom hotel villas with private pools to six- and seven-bedroom mansions, as well as eight- and nine-bedroom ‘private islands’.
Each residence will offer luxury living with views of the lagoon or beachfront.
The resort will also cater to sports enthusiasts with a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, fishing excursions, and snorkelling.
A wellness spa at the property will offer treatments ranging from therapeutic massages to facials among others, yoga pavilions, and a gym.
Additional amenities to be provided at the resort will include curated retail spaces, a Baccarat-themed crystal garden, an outdoor cinema, an art gallery, and event space.
Prioritising sustainability and conservation, the resort will feature a turtle rehabilitation centre and undertake eco-friendly initiatives to enable guests to engage with the Maldives' natural beauty.
It is located a 30-minute boat ride from Malé's Velana International Airport.
Earlier this year, SH Hotels & Resorts selected Hudini, a digital transformation platform, to develop a custom mobile app for iOS and Android for its properties, to streamline services.
