Shanghai Disney Resort has announced the commencement of construction of its third themed hotel in Shanghai, China.

This addition is expected to strengthen the resort's reputation as a multi-day tourist destination and offer guests more accommodation options.

The new deluxe hotel will feature 400 rooms, joining the existing 420-room Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and the 795-room Toy Story Hotel.

The ground-breaking ceremony, which marked the formal start of construction, was attended by leaders and executives from the Shanghai Disney Resort, The Walt Disney Company, Shanghai Shendi Group, and the Administrative Commission of Shanghai International Resort.

Situated on the shores of Wishing Star Lake, the new hotel caters to families with a wide range of indoor and outdoor recreational facilities and programming.

The hotel’s design, inspired by Art Nouveau architecture and Disney storytelling, will pay tribute to Shanghai's early 20th-century architectural style. Its design aims to be “authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese”.

Its spaces and activities highlight Disney characters and stories.

The new hotel will offer dining, shopping and entertainment options and will provide more options to guests planning to stay at the resort for multiple days.

Shanghai Disney Resort is a collaboration between the Walt Disney Company and Shanghai Shendi Group.

Cybercriminals are attracted to a wealth of personal data making the travel sector a prime target

The travel and tourism sector is becoming increasingly digitalized, embracing emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, and cloud. As the digital ecosystems of companies grow, they become more vulnerable to cyberattacks. The industry is fragmented, thereby increasing the number of potential entry points for attackers to exploit. Collaboration is vital, and companies must ensure that all their vendors also have suitable measures in place. Per GlobalData estimates, cybersecurity revenues in the T&T sector are forecasted to reach $3.5 billion by 2026.
