Hospitality technology provider Shiji has signed a global master service agreement to enable the expanded use of its Infrasys Cloud point-of-sale (POS) across Marriott International hotels.

Infrasys Cloud POS is Shiji's cloud-based POS solution designed for large hotel enterprises.

This solution will be deployed in Marriott International hotels across Africa, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Infrasys Cloud POS is claimed to be a widely adopted global hospitality POS system with financial and legal compliance.

Shiji COO Kevin King said: “Marriott is the largest and most well-known hotel brand in the world, so to say that we value our collaboration would be an understatement.

“I am proud of both the Shiji and the Marriott teams for signing this MSA; this marks a major step towards expanding Infrasys Cloud POS to more Marriott locations to streamline operations and improve the guest experience.”

Shiji’s Infrasys Cloud POS features API-based integrations and has a hardware-agnostic structure.

The two companies plan to continue their partnership to improve the POS experience for Marriott's staff and guests globally.

Marriott International, working with Shiji, finished a complete system migration of 167 former Starwood hotels in China in late 2018.

This latest deal comes just after Shiji announced the deployment of its Shiji Enterprise Platform, a property management system, at multiple Peninsula Hotels last week.

In April this year, Coast Hotels adopted Shiji’s online reputation management platform to provide an improved experience to guests.

Set up in 1998, Shiji has more than 5,000 employees in over 80 subsidiaries and brands in more than 31 countries.

Currently, it serves over 91,000 hotels, 200,000 restaurants and 600,000 retail outlets worldwide.

Gen Z and their impact on the travel and tourism industry

The medical devices industry is highly regulated and therefore can be slow to adopt new technologies to modernize. However, it is realizing the benefits that AI can bring, and AI is now being used in different areas across the entire value chain. Common use cases include data management, remote surgery, diagnostic and procedural AI assistants, and clinical trial design. GlobalData estimates that the AI in medical devices market is expected to grow at a CAGR of >29% by 2027.
