Travelodge Hotels Asia has expanded its presence in Japan with the opening of Travelodge Kyoto Shijo Omiya, marking the brand's second property in Kyoto and fifth in the country.

The new property offers room types such as standard queen, friends and family triple, and superior queen, among others.

As with all properties under the Travelodge brand, the hotel features a range of amenities such as co-working spaces, and an outdoor area.

Located in the Shijo Omiya district, Travelodge Kyoto Shijo Omiya provides access to Kyoto attractions such as Nijo Castle, Kyoto Imperial Palace, and Gion district.

Travelodge chief operating officer Pinky Lam said: “We’re excited to be a part of Kyoto’s booming tourism industry and to provide travellers with a modern, comfortable space to relax and recharge.

“With our focus on essential amenities and a great location, we are confident that Travelodge Kyoto Shijo Omiya will become a favourite among both local and international guests.”

Travelodge Kyoto Shijo Omiya operations manager Keigo Inden said: “We are excited to bring Travelodge’s unique offering to Kyoto at such an exciting time.

“Our aim is to provide versatile, comfortable stays that fit the needs of every traveller, whether they are here for business, leisure, or an extended visit. We can’t wait to welcome guests and show them the best of Kyoto.”

To mark the launch, the hotel is offering promotional rates that are available until 31 December 2024, for stays up until 31 December 2025.

In April 2024, Travelodge acquired six hotels in Spain from Louvre Hotels Group, adding 773 rooms to its portfolio.

The hotels, which earlier operated under the Hotel Campanile brand, are situated in cities including Alicante, Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, and Murcia.
