Marriott International has entered an agreement with the Balwa Group to debut its Tribute Portfolio branded hotel in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
Named The Ballard, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, the property is scheduled to open in March 2026.
This boutique hotel is expected to house 49 guest rooms, two restaurants, a rooftop bar, and a fitness centre.
Its location is said to offer easy access to landmarks, including the Gateway of India, Port House, and the Asiatic Library, as well as proximity to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal.
Marriott International South Asia vice president Ranju Alex said: “The growing demand for independent hotel experiences spans not only leisure travellers but business travellers as well.
“Positioned in a prime location with upscale amenities, this hotel will highlight the city’s hidden gems for those who value authentic experiences and crave a connection with the community when travelling.”
Balwa Group director Rafiq Balwa said: “We are once again collaborating with Marriott International, this time to unveil the Tribute Portfolio brand in South Mumbai. The hotel is strategically located within the Fort Area, facilitating seamless access to prominent tourist landmarks, cultural institutions, and thriving business hubs.
“We look forward to growing our association further with Marriott International, considering our existing relationship with our hotel, The Fairfield by Marriott Mumbai International Airport.”
Tribute Portfolio, which is a collection of independent hotels, has expanded to encompass more than 100 properties across nearly 30 countries and territories.
Earlier this month, Marriott International introduced its design-centric AC Hotels brand to south-west China with AC Hotel Chengdu North.
