Entrepreneur Tristan Schukraft, founder and CEO of the telemedicine platform MISTR, has acquired the Tryst Beachfront Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Tryst Beachfront is a boutique hotel that features 36 guest rooms offering ocean views, a two-bedroom penthouse and a restaurant and bar.

The acquisition includes the real estate and total assets related to this property.

Located close to the front of San Juan Beach, Tryst Beachfront Hotel initially opened in the 1960s as the Atlantic Beach Hotel.

The Tryst is currently undergoing a $6m refurbishment and plans to turn Condado Beach into the epicentre of LGBTQ life on the Isle of Enchantment.

Furthermore, Schukraft has purchased nightclub the Circo, which is considered to be a premiere spot for LGBTQ nightlife.

Tristan Schukraft said: “I am excited to help reinvigorate the LGBTQ scene in Puerto Rico while building upon the legacy of these two amazing venues.

“Our team is committed to taking The Tryst and Circo to the next level, giving plenty of reasons for visitors and locals alike to come out and play, all day and all night.”

The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association President and CEO John Tanzella said: “We are excited to showcase the revamped Circo Bar and the Tryst, an iconic IGLTA member hotel, to our global network.

“This transformative initiative in San Juan, Puerto Rico, will revitalise these queer spaces, offering vibrant venues for the LGBTQ+ community to flourish while honouring their rich history."

The Tryst remains open during renovations. Circo is scheduled to reopen later this year.
