US-based upscale outdoor hospitality brand Under Canvas is set to make its California debut with the opening of Under Canvas Yosemite on 22 May 2025.
The new 80-acre camp, nestled in a mountainside forest and surrounded by native Yosemite trees, will offer guests a serene retreat just ten minutes from the national park's west entrance.
The camp's location is further enhanced by a YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System) stop directly opposite the entrance, providing guests with convenient car-free access to Yosemite National Park.
Under Canvas Yosemite is poised to deliver a luxurious outdoor experience with safari-inspired tents equipped with king-size beds, high-quality linens, private decks, ensuite bathrooms, and additional amenities.
Under Canvas CEO Matt Gaghen said: "Under Canvas' expansion into California has been our goal since the brand's inception in 2012.
"We look forward to bringing the Under Canvas experience to Yosemite, home to many outdoor enthusiasts and a sought-after destination for adventure travellers around the globe.
“Our spectacularly beautiful property will offer exceptional access to one of the most iconic national parks in the country, inviting guests to discover the beauty of the park and immersion in nature in an entirely new way."
The camp's central area will feature a lobby tent with communal spaces for lounging and dining, as well as an open game area.
An expansive yoga deck on site will complement the wellness offerings.
The dining programme at Under Canvas Yosemite will include both outdoor and indoor options, focusing on seasonal cuisine complemented by a selection of fine California wines and craft beers.
In addition to its luxurious accommodations, Under Canvas Yosemite will provide complimentary on-site activities such as acoustic live music, daily yoga sessions, children's activities, and nightly s'mores.
The camp's Adventure Concierge service will be available to help guests arrange various local and in-park experiences, including rafting, rock climbing, fly fishing, stargazing, and photography classes.
Embodying the brand's Mindful Approach ethos, Under Canvas camps are designed to integrate with their natural surroundings, minimising environmental impact and preserving open spaces.
The brand stated that it is also at the forefront of eco-friendly practices in the industry, with claims of offering the world's first DarkSky-certified lodging properties, dedicated to reducing light pollution and protecting the night skies.
