W Hotels, a member of Marriott Bonvoy, has announced the launch of W Sydney in Sydney, Australia.
Situated within The Ribbon in Darling Harbour, the property targets both travellers and Sydneysiders.
W Hotels vice-president and global brand leader George Fleck said: “W Sydney marks our W Hotels brand’s triumphant return to Sydney, a long-awaited addition to our robust portfolio in Australia, following our recent debuts in Melbourne and Brisbane.
“W Sydney will cultivate a new cultural and social hub in the vibrant Darling Harbour precinct. It is the perfect canvas for a non-conformist approach to the luxury hospitality landscape with W’s bold and energetic ‘Whatever/Whenever’ service ethos, dynamic design and immersive programming as we celebrate Sydney through a new lens.”
The property was designed by Australian architectural company Hassell while the interiors were completed by London-based designer Bowler James Brindley.
The hotel’s copper-clad entrance pays homage to Sydney's underground railway tunnels as well as features a W sign inspired by the Australian Waratah flower.
W Sydney offers 588 guestrooms, including 162 suites featuring nautical white and navy-blue decor reminiscent of yacht sails, along with bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes.
Guests can dine at the property’s four new dining and bar venues: BTWN, 2am: desertbar, Living Room, 29/30 and WET Deck, spread across three levels.
BTWN, which features the setting adjacent to the flyover, is led by head chef Chris Dodd and offers a menu featuring ingredients from New South Wales. It's 2am: dessertbar is a late-night hotspot that has been created in collaboration with Janice Wong, a Singaporean dessert expert.
Living Room serves a list of sake and soju along with Asian small bites, while 29/30 is a two-level bar offering views of the harbour.
The WET Deck bar at the pool features underwater-themed lighting and Level 30 offers a range of cocktails, vintage Champagnes and superyacht-inspired decor.
The property also provides 1,300m² of event space across eight rooms and the Great Room, spanning 592m² is situated on level five.
Among the amenities provided at the property include AWAY Spa with five treatment rooms, FIT Gym and a 30m open-air infinity pool.
